Welcome to The Teacup Cottage! For as long as I can remember I have been intrigued by creative things. From paper art to clay, school art projects were always fun, despite my lack of excelling at any one thing in particular. A friend of my mother's taught me to cross stitch at the age of 5 and from that point on needlework, fiber arts and everything in between fascinated me.
Now as an adult that love of creativeness continues whether I am following directions from a blog, pattern or website or if I decided to go "off script" and make up my own pattern or version of a project. When it comes to crafting, I'll try most anything once, though my nemesis seems to be yarn arts, or at least crocheting in particular. I'm not giving up though, you'll see.
Professionally I am an Associate Editor for Texas Tea and Travel, a cultural women's magazine, and also serve as the Quilting and Crafts Coordinator. That means I am always learning something new and I love it!
For years I've written various personal blogs whether chronicling life as a military wife or new mom or documenting my crafting adventures. Writing just helps me put it in perspective. For the past few years, I have been encouraged by several friends in the quilting and sewing community to create a blog and write patterns. I've hesitated thinking that this was just a side project that didn't require much commitment, but the voices have gotten louder and so I'm now listening.
Join me on this journey as I explore new ways to create traditional quilts, meander through kid-friendly projects with my curious Lil Monkey, chronicle ongoing projects, share organization tips and find the humor in combining crafts and motherhood.
Welcome to The Teacup Cottage, where the teacups are full and curiosity is encouraged!
Until our next cup of tea ...
