I Was Issued A Time-Out!!

Well, my Spring Break week started off exciting. Early last week our dishwasher broke and after looking at it my husband ordered a new pump and we waited ... and waited ..

On Saturday the new part arrived and we decided to replace it after we ran errands, so at about 4
p.m. we got started. It was pretty timely for us to replace the motor, but then it still didn't work. We opened it back up, double checked all the hook ups and wires and tried again. Nothing. My husband, who is pretty knowledgeable about this kind of stuff tried to figure it out for nearly 4 hours before declaring there were more issues than just a broken pump and told me to go online to the big-name hardware store and find a new one I liked. At 8 p.m. he set out to the stores to pick up a new dishwasher and we installed it later than night.

All-in-all, it wasn't the first time I'd help him with large projects like this, but early in the process my back started to hurt and I just powered through it. By the end of the night, I couldn't stand up straight and when I woke up Sunday morning, I was in some serious pain.

Dr. Prince Charming ordered me to a recliner where I was more than half the day. I have to admit, I am not good when confined to rest. Sure, I can catch up on some projects or watch TV shows or movies I'd been to busy to see, but this time it was different. I couldn't sit up enough to stitch, a sewing machine would have been impossible, and I still had to share the TV with an energetic 5-year-old.

While I sat in the recliner, Prince Charming did bring me a few projects to do. I was able to cut apart most of my stack of Quiltsmart pumpkin seed panels, frame some photos that we'd gotten Lil Monkey for his birthday from a local artist, even crochet a row or two on my slowly evolving afghan.

I'm all for the downtime, but not while in that much pain. Yikes! I can't imagine what my husband deals with after his paratrooping injuries and such.

Luckily, today I am feeling a little better. I'm hoping to do some fun things with Lil Monkey this week, so come back and visit to see what we've been up to as we enjoy this little break.

Until our next cup of tea ...
