Make It Up As You Go ...

I am a pretty "in control" person, in most all aspects. When it comes to various craft project, I would say I follow that pattern - I need to know the whole layout, all the fabric ... I need to know what the end game is before I commit. Maybe I have commitment issues.

Recently, I got some Quilting Treasures fabric from their Studio 8 Shangri-La series. There is a fat quarter or so of 8 fabrics- 4 blue, 4 purple. It was so pretty, I wasn't suite sure what I wanted to do with it at first, but then decided it  would make some beautiful pinwheels. So I cut small squares for half-square triangles to make small 2-inch pinwheels. Well ... I made a bunch of half-square triangles. but only managed to make 9 pinwheels before deciding that miniature quilts are my mother's idea of fun. I don't have the patience, probably because I am continuously being interrupted because I have Lil Monkey with me 24-7.

I am on a bit of a schedule because the fabric is a "kit" I got to participate in the Rocky Mountain Quilt Festival's quilt contest sponsored by Quilting Treasures and Quilter Pam Clarke. The quilts will be on display at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Festival, August 13-15 and will be judged by a panel of judges. I have no dream of winning, but am pretty excited to enter my first ever quilt contest!

I had set the project aside until I could make a decision on what to do ... I was feeling overwhelmed as the time drew near.

Today, I went against my better judgement, or usual pattern and decided to make it up as I go. So I sewed the 9 pinwheels together and decided to build it from there ... we'll see where the creative mood takes it ...

Until our next cup of tea ...
