I'm back in my studio this week working on the Layer Cake Sampler by Material Girl Quilts. Catching up on these blocks has been 80% fun and 20% stressful.
My little sister is in town visiting with her little boy and we are having quite the adventure. Today we went to the Houston Museum of Natural Science and saw the Dinosaur Exhibit and went to the Butterfly Center and let me tell you, no matter how many times I see them, going with a 2 year old makes you see them in a whole new way! His excitement was contagious to say the least. Ll Monkey felt like a tour guide, and was quite quick with his dino info for a 6 year old.
This week I worked on Blocks 9 & 10. The first, Block 9,a pattern I'd never made before so I was excited to see how it turned out. I really liked the way this layout finished. I really think I'd like to do a small quilt with repeats of this block.
The second, Block 10, is is another classic pattern making squares with the HST. I made this one using only to fabrics instead of 3 because I really like some of the squares being one background and one focal fabric. This pattern fit that really well.
I can't wait to see what blocks there will be in the upcoming months, but be sure to check back in next Wednesday for Blocks 11 & 12 and we'll be halfway done. Blacks 13 & 14 will be July 15!!

Until our next cup of tea ...
