Another Quilt Market & Festival Concludes

It's over. I'm a little sad, but there is always next year to look forward to. Every year since I was 18 years old I have been in some way been involved with the International Quilt Festival is Houston, Texas. I started as a Quilt Angel. My job was to stand next to my assigned quilt, where I watched toe sure no one touched them, and upon request I could move a quilt closer using my white gloves so it could be seen closer or I could flip so they could see the quilting on the back. I felt really "adult" in those moments.

Their projects are so whimsical and fun, and very easy. You're certain to fall in love with them.

I was a Quilt Angel for a few years. They later they did away with "Quilt Angels", but by then I was working in a booth with companies such as Bear Thread Designs. A few years ago, I started helping at Quilt Market, which fell the week before The International Quilt Festival. While Festival is an event open to the public, Market is only open to small business owners in the quilting and creative arts industry. Vendors are sewing and quilting machine companies, designers, quilting and creative arts supply companies, and my favorite, fabric companies. I love seeing all the new fabrics that will soon be hitting shops shelves!

This year was no different. For the first time in years, I didn't work either show, so I was able to enjoy walking around and seeing all the new things that would soon be filling shops and then homes. I can't wait to see finishes projects starting to show up on blogs as well! So much creativity!

This year, I was able to visit two favorites while at Quilt Market.

Kimberbell Design was a pattern company that I discovered a few years ago here in Houston. I'm pretty sure it was at Quilt Festival that year, because I fell in love with and bought the name pillow pattern.

This year I couldn't leave Quilt Market without stopping to see Kimberbell Designs. The team was absolutely sweetest group of people ever! There were so many new additional so and projects that have been added to the Kimberbell Designs line since that first meeting. New patterns, embroidery designs and projects, even a fabric line and Kimberbellishment ribbons!! I was in heaven all over again. It's truly what Christmas morning felt like as a kid!

I also stopped by Ribbon Candy Quilt Company.  Was introduced to this company through a client, Bear Thread Designs. They sell Ribbon Candy Quilt Company patterns and I've made he opportunity. a few samples for them.

If you ever get he chance to visit either Quilt Market or Quilt Festival, don't pass up the opportunity. There are so many amazing vendors and designers to keep you creatively inspired.

Until our next cup of tea ...
