Today is the Valentine's Day party at Lil Monkey's school. This year I haven't been too crafty when it came to Valentine's Day. Actually, looking back I haven't done much in the past as well, mostly like because I go big from Halloween through Christmas. I usually pick up again about Easter.
This year we are at yet another school (but will stay here for 2 more years), so we weren't quite sure what they would do since its our first year at a public school. Anyway, we decided to make small gift bags for his friends. Lil Monkey doesn't really eat a lot of candy, so this year our bags included a card with a glow-in-the-dark sticker, a pencil and eraser and a small box of Nerds candy.
Each year the kids usually make a box to put their Valentine's in, but we had a big week with Lil Monkey's birthday and our turn to host Cub Scouts among the usual activities and stuff. And let's face it, he'll do like the past few year and fight me on making the box, so I get frustrated and do it after a round of begging and/or yelling. Once he gets home with it, it'll stay in some inconvenient place while I ask him for days to pick it up or throw it away. Then once I get tired and throw i away, he'll cry that he wanted to keep it forever!
So this year, we decided to use a bag for Lil Monkey;s Valentines. We went searching for some of the cloth bags I'd made and he decided he wanted to take to bag we made with Inside Out fabric. I found it humorous that the bag he was using was covered in emotions like Joy, Fear, Sadness, Anger and Disgust, kind of like the emotions adults feel about Valentine's Day!
The bag was made using Quiltsmart's Market Bag interfacing.
Well, I'm off to the party! Wish me luck with 21 kids and candy!
Until next time, stay #CreativelyInspired!
