You're A Cute One, Mr. Grinch ...

As I painstakingly hand drew the Grinch's face on a green shirt, I marveled at the fact that the kid it was for was currently upstairs lamenting that I had ruined his life in the most Grinch-like behavior.

Today, March 2, we celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Now I have to say, until my son started school 3 or 4 years ago, I didn't even know it was celebrated in schools, but it is a big deal. The first year or so, I didn't really think anything of it, but as he got older, I knew we had to start getting serious about making a costume and such.

Earlier this week the school sent home a note saying the kids could dress as their favorite Seuss character. Lil Monkey decided he wanted to dress like the Grinch (which was NO surprise to me at all! He's pretty Grinch-y at times.) I vetoed painting his face green but said I wold make him a Grinch shirt since I looked everywhere and couldn't find one.

So I printed a photo of the Grinch's face as a guide and partly used as a template and partly hand-drew the pattern onto his shirt using various size Sharpies.

All in all, it turned way better than I thought it would. I was going to cut the eyes out of yellow fabric and decided against it, but in the end, I managed to pull off another mom-win and that's all that really counts, right?

We tried several Grinch-faces for photos this morning ...

He also wanted a photo with Buster as the Grinch's dog!

Well, I'm off to look for the Dr. Seuss book he couldn't find last night. I'm sure he'll ask if I found it while he was at school.

Until next time, stay #CreativelyInspired!
