In Love with Ornament Block Exchange

Hello Dear Teacupers! I hope you are staying warm with a nice cup of hot tea, or cocoa  or whatever makes you happy. It is uncommonly cold here in South Texas, with temperatures in the upper 40s and lower 50s. I'm pretty sure the rain is making it a little easier to decide to stay indoors for those of us who are not used to such weather.

I am so thankful that Lil Monkey was well-behaved as I met with the group of quilters exchanging the Christmas Ornament Blocks that The Teacup Cottage is hosting in partnership with The Sparkly Elephant Sewing Lounge. It turned into such a fun afternoon.

I finished my ornaments blocks and ended up using some vintage Christmas fabric from my stash. I have several of the black based Christmas fabrics and never know how to use it because it seems so fancy. but I loved how they turned out.

I have to say, aside from the blocks, the best part of hosting the block exchange is that I get to pick the party snacks and the ginger cookies are my favorite!

There were a few people who signed up to exchange with us, but had scheduling conflicts, but it was still a success. However, the most exciting part was being the first "Christmas block exchange" for a teenager and I couldn't be more excited. She joined us at the invitation of her teacher and sewing mentor, and I was thrilled she decided to do it. I started sewing and quilting when I was near her age and I can just image all the projects she's got in her future, but I digress.

After doing the block exchange, I gifted the participants with 2 Quiltsmart projects, donated my Mattie, Quiltsmart creator. I'm excited to see what they make, especially with the holly!

Here is a look at some of the blocks from today's exchange:

O.k., the teal with snowmen and Santas are just too adorable for words, and who doesn't love dogs!! Christmas dogs are even better! I'm excited to see how these blocks are put together by the participants!! I will try to get photos of them to share.

Until next time, stay #CreativelyInspired!
